– Couples Counseling
This is usually for the two adults that are married, planning to marry, or in some type of committed relationship that are trying to improve their communication skills, problems solving abilities, and overall build a strong relationship that will last the test of time.

“It is my intention to create a comfortable environment for you when you are here.”
Approaches to Therapy
– Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
The main therapeutic approach used is that of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. This focuses on making a connection between what a person is feeling and what they are thinking.
The idea is that feelings lead to action and if that action is a poor one such as aggression, or hateful words, the best way to prevent that action is to change the feeling. The way a person feels is based on the way they look at a situation or how they interpret it. If they are not interpreting it correctly i.e. making assumptions, than their reaction will be a lot stronger than necessary.
I teach a person to look more fully at a situation and then weigh the evidence before taking action. Then when they do react, they fully understand the situation and have a better chance of reacting in way they can feel good about.
– Eclectic Therapy
This refers to the use of a combination of different therapeutic approaches. While Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the most widely researched approach and is shown to be very effective, some people need different approaches to help them. My approach is to meet people where they are and work in the most effective way possible. That may mean using different strategies that are designed to fit their individual needs.
